What is the Heartland Market?

The Heartland Market is a creative space for our local traders to showcase their talents and products, to inspire and entice the community within the heart of Galashiels.

With a focus on featuring the work of independent makers and designers from Galashiels (and beyond). Set up by three woman who independently own local businesses, we are committed to improving the town centre to make it a place to visit, not only for footfall to the market, but all our other amazing retailers and local businesses in and around Galashiels. Our commitment will be to our community, conscious shopping, and mindful making.

Ultimately, with a goal of trying to put the heart back into our home town.

We need you to come on down‚ support us, and put your pennies back into the pavements of your local community. Make it great once more.

Our monthly Saturday morning shall combine art, good food, live music and a fun community spirit under one awesome space. Each session offers visitors a unique experience to shop, explore‚ discover and connect with community. With something for everyone, our monthly market will actively support small, local businesses.

Inspiring small business owners‚ all over Scotland‚ to make a living out of what they love. It’s not all about the transaction, it’s about building relationships and continuing to keep the towns heart beating.

Welcome to The Heartland Market. We are pleased you stopped by!

Well kids, on the final hour of yesterdays market, we met Santa (thanks Rotary!)🎅🎄❤️

Our initial mission when creating The Heartland Market was to;
Bring the heart back to the Galashiels community.

The very first market in March brought tears to our eyes, tears of joy, when you all stepped out onto Channel Street to embrace our motto and support your local community. We had hoped for a few hundred, but we clocked a few thousand!

We’ve worked hard to create a ‘mixed tape’ of creatives each month delivering handmade products made locally or near by.

Supporting these makers, bakers and shakers has helped small family run businesses thrive and quite possibly survive in uncertain times.

Personally, we see our town supporters return every single month, we see you and we appreciate you. It’s become the meeting place for catch ups. Our local shops have commented on the positive impact the added footfall has brought.

Working together as a team has brought lots of joy, endless laughs, and sometimes tears (remembering back to when the hire stalls didn’t show up very last minute!). Thank goodness the sun shone on Gala!

You’ll be pleased to hear, we’re doing it all again next year! But first, we are going to have a little rest, spend time on our own businesses finalising things for Christmas, then enjoy some much needed family time.

We wish you all a very happy Christmas and look forward to seeing you in 2023…
